2 of swords
This painting is a part of my Queer Revolution Tarot series. I painted 78 tarot cards based on the themes of traditional decks, but with a gender expansive approach to a traditionally binary categorization. Masculine and feminine are qualities, not bodies, and anybody could embody either or both.
This card represents difficult decisions, weighing options, avoidance, and impasse. You can’t clearly see the problems you face, and you don’t have the information you need to find a solution. Without objective knowledge, you must trust your intuition and emotions as you make intentional decisions. Don’t let your relative blindness stop you from moving forward—indecision and avoidance will keep you stuck in the dark.
The figure stands with her eyes closed and glasses tucked into the pocket of her overalls. Even if she opened her eyes and put in her glasses, the course forward may not be clear through the darkness. She must trust her intuition to make a decision, not her vision. An open doorway stands behind her, symbolizing possibility. What lies ahead of her?
