7 of Cups

This painting is part of my Queer Revolution Tarot series. I painted 78 Salt Lake locals and locations. The deck is not for divination, but for self exploration and self reflection.

This card represents opportunities, choices, illusions, and wishful thinking. Dream big–your capacity for emotional growth is greater than you can imagine, so long as you work as hard as you dream. You have endless options, but not every opportunity that comes your way will lead you toward your goals. Follow your core values when making decisions and trust your intuition.

Cups are the suit of emotion; vessels that can contain the ephemeral and constantly flowing element of water. Each cup in this painting holds a different object, symbolizing different paths we can imagine taking. The objects are distorted through the refraction of the glass and water. Fish pattern the background, animals that live and move in water, influenced by the currents and also constantly in flow.
