7 of wands

This painting is a part of my Queer Revolution Tarot series. I painted 78 tarot cards based on the themes of traditional decks, but with a gender expansive approach to a traditionally binary categorization. Masculine and feminine are qualities, not bodies, and anybody could embody either or both.

This card represents challenge, competition, protection, and perseverance. Your progress is being challenged and now is the time to defend the territory you have won. Others feel threatened by your stability, and your expanding visibility comes with pressure and competition. Establish strong boundaries with others, stand firm in the convictions of what you believe and why, and draw on your experience: your success has come from self-confidence, pride, and your constant work at self-improvement.

The figure stands firmly with their feet and cane planted on sturdier ground near rocky terrain. The wands are on fire, six against one, yet the figure remains determined, staring down the wands blocking their path.
