Ace of swords

This painting is a part of my Queer Revolution Tarot series. I painted 78 tarot cards based on the themes of traditional decks, but with a gender expansive approach to a traditionally binary categorization. Masculine and feminine are qualities, not bodies, and anybody could embody either or both.

This card represents the potential for intellectual growth. The pursuit of mental clarity is a pursuit of truth, justice, and communication. Believe in your ideas, trust your original thought, and then act on your vision so you can continue to learn. Let the energy of new ideas create momentum in your life, and allow truth and logic to keep you balanced.

Each of the aces in my deck stand in front of a monochromatic background, holding the object of their suit forward. In many traditional tarot decks, the aces are the objects being presented by the hand of god. The monochromatic background acts as a symbol of transcending reality into a realm of possibility.
