Burning Sunset

The sky swallowed me
And I fell deeply in love
With the dying sun

I painted this in my handmade sketchbook in the summer of 2019. I was spending my days and nights outside painting and reading and biking. Sometimes shapes emerged as I squinted against the setting sun, sometimes they obscured themselves, merging into light or shadow. Sometimes a sunset has a cathartic effect, cleansing through fire.
