I painted this as a sketch to work on while I was waiting for my tarot pieces to dry. I couldn’t stop painting. It was my go-to escape when I needed to feel a sense of control, to focus my brain, and to express myself. I had given myself arbitrary, yet very rigid deadlines for finishing each tarot painting, and I couldn’t let myself get out of my flow state. While one piece was drying, I’d pull this one out.

I loved spending time specifically on the fence. I referenced a photo of a warped fence I took while walking around Salt Lake City. The inorganic structure when broken and warped creates organic shapes almost like waves on water.
